Famous Author's Dressing Table On Display At History Colorado

DENVER (CBS4)- History Colorado Center is bringing a new item from the archives to feature on exhibit each week. This week it's a dressing table that belonged to a famous author.

The table once belonged to Robert Louis Stevenson, the man who wrote "Treasure Island" and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."

"This is the dressing table from the Stevenson family. Actually Robert Louis Stevenson is who we're talking about. Famous author, still famous today, famous in his time. And it's a dressing table that the family actually took to the Samoan Islands when they lived there," said History Colorado Senior Curator for Artifacts Alisa Zahller.

The dressing table came to Colorado when it was purchased by someone who lived here. History Colorado Center has had it in storage for years along with other items.

It's part of the Who Knew? Everything Old is New Again exhibit which features a new piece of history from the archives every week.
