DENVER (CBS4) - The latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows bad news for parts of Colorado.

A new pocket of moderate drought has developed in eastern Elbert County and western Lincoln County with ongoing drought conditions between Denver and Fort Collins.

The rest of the Front Range is considered to be abnormally dry or in pre-drought.

Much of northwest Colorado is also abnormally dry as well as some areas in the southwest and south-central part of the state.

A fall storm currently passing through the central Rockies will bring the chance for scattered rain and snow early in the weekend but nothing of significance is anticipated.

High wind out ahead of the storm system was prompting high fire danger along Interstate 25 on Friday.
