Explosion Inside Apartment Shuts Down Block In Capitol Hill

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver firefighters rushed to investigate an explosion in a garden level apartment in Capitol Hill on Tuesday afternoon.

The explosion happened in an apartment at the Acacia Apartments at 14th Avenue and Pennsylvania Street just before 4 p.m. Several windows were blown out in the explosion.

Fire crews rushed to the scene at 429 East 14th Avenue to investigate what caused the explosion.

One woman was taken to the hospital after an explosion inside an apartment near 14th and Logan (credit: CBS)

One woman was inside the apartment during the incident. She was rushed to the hospital and is said to have minor injuries. Other residents were evacuated while engineers evaluated the building for structural damage.

It is unclear what caused the explosion.

Several streets surrounding the apartment were blocked to traffic during the investigation but started to reopen after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
