Ex-Soldier Sentenced In Infant Stepson's Death

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A former Fort Carson soldier has been sentenced to 32 years in prison after pleading guilty in the death of his 10-month-old stepson.

Zachary Doggett pleaded guilty to fatal child abuse under a plea agreement with prosecutors. He was sentenced on Tuesday.

Police were called to the family's home in 2012 and said they found the baby unconscious, with numerous bruises and a fractured skull. Doggett said the child was placed in a position where the boy could be injured and Doggett didn't call for help when the boy got hurt.

Doggett was in the Army when he was arrested but has since left.
