Evergreen Lake Plunge Gives Icy Splash To New Year

EVERGREEN, Colo. (CBS4) – Organizers are getting things ready for this year's Evergreen Lake Plunge. It's the only big one after the cancellation of this year's plunge at the Boulder Reservoir.

Over 200 people took a chilly dip to kick off the New Year at the start of 2015. Many dress up and a few are still trying to wake up from New Year's Eve celebrations.

It's a benefit for several local organizations and this year people are pledging money to challenge people to take the leap. CBS4's Alan Gionet serves as host every year.

The plunge happens at noon, with shuttle buses available to take people to the lake. There's a warming hut with a good warm stove for the after-party.

The Evergreen Lake Plunge follows Skate the Lake on New Year's Eve. The non-alcoholic event is a great one for families and teenagers. There are fireworks at 8 p.m. and midnight on New Year's Eve at the lake. Tickets for Skate the Lake are $20.
