Evacuations Ordered After Chemicals Found During Suicide Investigation

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - Homes were evacuated Monday afternoon after chemicals were found at a residence during a suicide investigation.

According to Matt Barnes with Thornton Police, officers responded to a suicide investigation at a residence near 135th Avenue and Fillmore Street Monday afternoon. When they arrived they found a man deceased in a garage. They also found some unknown chemicals at the residence.

Six homes in the area were evacuated and a hazmat crew was called to the scene after the chemicals were found.

According to Barnes, the man, whose name hasn't been released, was a chemistry student. He was said to be in his 20s.

Tarver Elementary parents were asked to pick up their students at the Educational Support Center located at 1500 East 128th Avenue.
