Murder Victim's Husband Found With Apparent Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

FREDERICK, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Frederick say the husband of a murder victim was found the same night the victim's body was found. Investigators confirm Emily Butler, 36, was found dead in her home on July 5.

Officers were called to the 7100 block of Shavano Circle on a welfare check around 3 p.m. Investigators say her husband, Kevin Butler, 50, was not at the scene.

They say the later received a call about a crash near Mud Lake. Officers found Kevin's body with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The coroner's office will determine the cause of death.
