Site Of Deadly Emerson Place Construction Fire To Be Rebuilt, Developer Says

DENVER (CBS4) - More than a year later, the developer of a construction site which caught fire plans to rebuild. The devastating fire killed two construction workers at 18th Avenue and Emerson Place.

The fire started March 7, 2018 at the Emerson Place Apartments.

Workers reported first seeing the fire on the third floor. Some jumped from the second and third floors of the building to escape.

Dustin Peterson, 37, was an electrician who perished in the three alarm blaze along with Roberto Flores-Prieto.

Six other people were hurt.

More than 100 firefighters rushed to extinguish the blaze.

Dozens of cars were destroyed along with construction equipment. Nearby homes, apartments and offices were damaged and are uninhabitable.

The developer tells CBS4 he plans to rebuild an apartment complex at the site. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire has never been determined.
