CDOT Makes Emergency Repairs On I-70 Near Mousetrap During Rush Hour

DENVER (CBS4) - Colorado Department of Transportation crews made emergency repairs to the bridge on Interstate 76 over York Street on Monday, and also had to make repairs along I-70 during rush hour.

A large amount of pavement in one of the westbound lanes needed to be removed. I-76 was closed while the work occurred. Debris was also landing onto York, so it was also closed under the bridge.

Crews also made emergency bridge expansion joint repairs on westbound I-70 between Washington and Pecos Streets and on the northbound I-25 ramp to westbound I-70.

"When we experience major temperature swings, our roadways become more susceptible to potholes and issues with bridge decks and expansion joints," CDOT Region Transportation Director Tony DeVito said in a statement. "Our first priority is the safety of motorists in this area. We understand that this closure will cause frustration through rush hour, but we must make these emergency repairs now."
