Elk Relocated To Wild After Roaming Too Close To School

DENVER (CBS4)- An elk that had been wandering around the Denver metro area was relocated after getting a little too close to a school.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife had to tranquilize and relocate the elk into the foothills.

Wildlife officials didn't want to move the animal, they were hoping it would make its way back into the wild on its own.

Instead, the elk got a little too close to Munroe Elementary School.

Wildlife officials believe the elk is one of two spotted near 8th and Federal on Wednesday.

Officials were concerned the elk would get closer to town. They hope the other elk moved west on its own and won't show up in the city.
