Elk Found With Antlers Tangled In Hose
LYONS, Colo. (CBS4)- An elk with his antlers tangled in what appears to be a drip line hose will not get assistance from wildlife officers as long as he can move about on his own and feed himself.
The elk has been seen near Highway 66 east of Lyons. Its antlers are tangled in what appears to be several feet of hose, possibly a drip line from a greenhouse.
Boulder County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Heidi Prentup said that deputies and some residents had tried to corral the animal to help get him untangled but to no avail.
Prentup said Parks and Wildlife officials typically don't intervene when the animal can eat and move about freely. They believe it causes more harm to the elk than leaving it alone.
