Elementary School In Lakewood Cancels Classes Due To Extreme Vandalism

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - A school in Lakewood had to be closed after vandals broke in overnight.

According to Lakewood police, two young girls trashed Slater Elementary on 26th Avenue between Wadsworth Boulevard and Kipling Street.

The vandals made such a big mess that school officials were forced to close the school Monday morning.

Police have two 12 year old girls in custody. They were being interviewed but no arrests have been made. It's not clear if they are former students.

The girls could face charges of burglary, criminal mischief and theft.
