Electrical Issue Blamed For Starting Deadly House Fire

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Investigators have determined what sparked a deadly house fire in Aurora that claimed the life of one woman and critically injured her son who was trying to rescue her.

Fire investigators say the fire was an accident, caused by an electrical problem.

The fire started in a home along 7th Avenue on Wednesday morning and quickly spread to two other houses.

It's not clear how much warning the residents inside the homes that burned had. Seven people were in one of the homes, and Janelle Vargas, the mother of the family who lived there, didn't survive. Her son, Gabe, was critically injured while trying to save her from the fire.

A neighbor has started a Gofundme page for the Vargas family.

The fire spread to two other homes and damaged vehicles parked nearby.
