Elderly Man's Body Dropped Off At University Hospital
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Aurora are in the middle of an unusual investigation after someone dropped off the body of an elderly man at the University of Colorado Hospital.
The body was dropped off about 5:30 a.m. at the hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The man does not appear to have any signs of injury. There wasn't any identification on the body and there is no missing persons report.
The person who dropped off the body may have been driving a green pickup truck but police are still trying to get an accurate description of the vehicle.
"The guy in the truck just took off before they could get any more information," Frank Fania with Aurora police said.
Once detectives get that information they hope to find out the identity of the man and whether the person who dropped him off will face any charges.
"Was he in the truck when he died? Do they know him, do they not know him?" Fania said. "We don't know if they are Good Samaritans who saw someone who needed help. There's a lot of unanswered questions."
The body has two identifying tattoos. On the man's right shoulder is a Pegasus and on his left shoulder is a twin eagles tattoo. Authorities hope those markings will help identify the man.
"Number one we want to know if it's a homicide or not," Fania said.
Autopsy results will come as early as Thursday. If they are of natural causes there still is a possibility of charges including abuse of corpse, but officers say that would be up to the district attorney to decide.
