Education Secretary Visiting Colorado Schools

DENVER (AP) - U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan is visiting Colorado schools to discuss excellence in education and leadership skills.

On Thursday, Duncan will join Gov. John Hickenlooper and Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia at Skyline High School in Longmont to take part in a town hall meeting with students, educators and business executives. They'll talk about ways to improve education in science, technology, engineering and math.

In the afternoon, he plans to hold a panel discussion with nearly a dozen principals from Denver schools to discuss their model to support and train good principals.

On Friday, Duncan will join U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock in a discussion with teachers on ways to improve their leadership to better support students.
