Durango Removes Benches To Prevent Panhandling

DURANGO, Colo. (CBS4) - Durango is removing city benches to prevent loitering and panhandling.

The Durango Herald reports an employee from the Antique Market asked the city to remove a bench outside the store.

She said panhandlers would sit there for hours, blocking the store window. The bench was gone the next day.

The city says it will move any bench at the request of merchants.
