DUI Enforcement Stepped Up For St. Patrick's Day Weekend

DENVER (AP) — The Colorado State Patrol is stepping up DUI enforcement across the state this St. Patrick's Day weekend.

Patrol Chief Scott Hernandez is encouraging party-goers not to get behind the wheel if they have been drinking or using drugs. He says that for the last two years, the number of impaired driving arrests during the St. Patrick's Day enforcement period has stayed relatively consistent, with 486 reported arrests in 2013 and 484 in 2014.

The heightened DUI enforcement began Friday and will continue through Wednesday, the day after St. Patrick's Day.
