Both DU campus police and detectives with the Denver Police Department are investigating the incident. In a released statement they said the woman was "forcibly fondled." They classify it as "unlawful sexual contact."

"It falls into that category of a sexual assault," DU spokesman Ben Gerig said. "This is something that we take extremely seriously."

DU has sent out a campus alert since the incident happened so close to campus.

Safety escorts are available for students around the clock.
