Hit-And-Run Tire Tread Marks Left On Victim's T-Shirt
WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - A hit-and-run driver left tire tread marks on the victim's T-shirt when he was run over in a grocery store parking lot. Police are still searching for that suspect driver.
The man was run over happened Monday at around 3:15 p.m. near 39th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard.
Police say a light-colored SUV, possibly a white Jeep Cherokee, was going fast in the parking lot when it hit the man. The man had just parked and exited his vehicle when he heard the engine rev and was struck.
"I can't believe he survived that. That tire track runs from his waist up past his left shoulder, coming real close to his head. I think it's a miracle he's alive and that's why we're reaching out to the public for help on this," said Wheat Ridge Police Detective Brad With.
The man in his 50s was seriously injured. He has not been identified. The driver of the SUV sped away westbound on 38th Avenue.
Police released a picture of the tread marks left on the victim's T-shirt but have little else to go on in the investigation. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video that may help track down the suspect driver.
