Driver Charged In Crash That Killed 5-Year-Old Boy On Sidewalk
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- A father and son were out for a walk in Colorado Springs when a speeding car crashed into them, killing the 5-year-old boy and seriously injuring his father.
Ishaq Hameed and his father, Raphael Hameed, were walking on a sidewalk on Murray near Bijou Street on Tuesday when a car came barreling down the road, too fast for the curve.
Police said the driver, Xyrjah Goldston, 21, over corrected and drove over the curb and onto the sidewalk, crashing into the pair.
Ishaq succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. His father was badly injured and rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The four people in the car, including Goldston, were hospitalized with injuries.
Goldston is facing charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.
