DPD Shakeup: Promotions, Demotions And Transfers

DENVER (CBS4)- The Denver Police Department said Wednesday two Commanders are being demoted to the rank of captain, many other command officers are being transferred and numerous lower ranking DPD officers are being promoted.

CBS4 reported the impending shakeup last week. Denver Police Chief Robert White summoned commanders to his office Monday and informed them personally of the demotions, promotions and transfers.

Two Commanders, Les Perry and Bill Nagle, are being demoted from their positions running DPD districts. Nagle is being demoted to a captain and sent to the Community Relations Division while Perry is being demoted to lieutenant and will be stationed at Denver International Airport.

Also notable is that Commander Matt Murray, who had been Chief White's Chief of Staff, is being promoted to Deputy Chief of Administration.

In a statement accompanying the moves, White said the transfers were, "In the best interest of the Denver Police Department and our community… these modifications will take us to the next level as a police agency."

In total, 55 Denver Police officers and command staff officers were reassigned, promoted or demoted and announced in a DPD Inter-Department Correspondence.
