Explore Denver: Doors Open Denver Event Offers Expert-Guided Tours

DENVER (CBS4) - Denverites love our city, but how well have you really explored it? The Doors Open Denver event will give you the chance to dig a little deeper and explore the unknowns of the city.

On Saturday, September 22nd & Sunday, September 23rd, Doors Open Denver will feature 64 free sites, 138 insider tours, and 6 cultural events. The community will be able to connect with the city through self-guided or expert-guided tours of Denver's unique spaces.

Self-guided tours include buildings like the Savoy at Curtis Park, St. Patrick's Oratory, and the Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building at Metro State University.

Guided tours include the Baker Historic Walking Tour, Humboldt Island Mansion, and the Colorado State Armory. Some guided tours may require buying a ticket.

There's also some fun places to explore with the family, like the birdcage elevator at the Historic Sugar Building, the Five Points Media Center, and the Trinity United Methodist Church.

For the first time, Doors Open Denver is featuring two neighborhoods, Five Points, and Highlands. In Five Points, several musical and dance performances are scheduled for the Rossonian Hotel.

Pauline Herrera Serianni, Director of the Denver Architecture Foundation joined the CBS4's Joel Hillan and Chris Spears on CBS4 This Morning with a preview of the event which takes place on Sept. 22 and 23.
