Dirty Shorts Lead To Burglary Charges

DENVER (CBS4)- DNA linked investigators to a burglary suspect after he left behind a pair of shorts with fecal matter inside.

Denver's District Attorney has formally charged a man in connection with the burglary of a preschool and church last year after DNA helped link him to the crime.

Rodney Mark Hendrix has been charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and one count of identity theft.

The charges allege that in Aug. 2014 Hendrix, 49, broke into a Denver church and preschool and stole guitars and electronics, leaving behind a pair of shorts with fecal matter. DNA testing linked the shorts to Hendrix.

Hendrix remains in custody in the Colorado Department of Corrections on theft and drug cases. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Oct. 16 to be formally advised of the charges.
