DIA Reports Nearly 53.5 Million Passengers In 2014

DENVER (AP) — Denver International Airport says data compiled by an industry association show it was the nation's fifth busiest airport last year.

Airports Council International says DIA reported nearly 53.5 million total airline travelers in 2014. That's a record for DIA and ranks Denver ahead of John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, which reported nearly 53.3 million passengers.

The Federal Aviation Administration, citing passenger departures only, reported this week that DIA had slightly more than 26 million departures — sixth, behind JFK, in nationwide tallies of passenger boardings.

ACI data ranks Atlanta's Hartsfield International as the nation's busiest airport, followed by Los Angeles International, Chicago O'Hare and Dallas/Fort Worth.
