Denver's Popular Cherry Cricket Restaurant Closed Indefinitely After Fire
DENVER (CBS4) - The popular Cherry Cricket Restaurant in Cherry Creek North will be closed for an extended after a fire on Wednesday night.
A sign taped to the door on Friday morning said the following:
Due to a fire, the Cherry Cricket will be closed until we can rebuild. We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the near future. Thank you!
The fire in the restaurant's kitchen Wednesday evening forced out customers from the restaurant at 2nd Avenue and Clayton Street. Everyone inside had to evacuate, including a couple who was on their first date. No one was hurt.
One of the restaurant's owners, Lee Driscoll, told CBS4 some of the stoves and kitchen equipment may be a complete loss due to water damage.
"We've got all these people coming to our website saying how sorry they are … and they didn't pay for their dinner and want to know if they can come by and pay," Driscoll said. "So, it's on us -- no need to come by and pay, but massively appreciated."
Employees will still be paid while the restaurant is closed.
