Denver's 90-Degree Streak Should End Just Shy Of 10 In A Row

DENVER (CBS4) - If you're a fan of the 90-degree heat, enjoy it, because a major change in the weather pattern will soon send temperatures below normal, potentially, for several days.

If the high tops 90 degrees in Denver on Saturday, it will be the ninth day in a row for the city.

You might think, big deal, it's July, shouldn't we see temperatures in the 90's?

Yes, but for Denver, 90-degree streaks rarely top 10 days in a row.

In fact, there have only been 30 instances of this happening since weather records began in the 1870's.

Starting Sunday, a major shift in the upper-level wind pattern will send much cooler air from Canada into the United States.

Below normal temperatures are expected from the Rockies to the east coast as we head into the first week of August.

Rainfall is also expected to accompany the cooler weather, with above normal precipitation in the forecast for much of the region, including Colorado.
