Denver Zoo's New Lion Cubs Complete Health Exams
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver Zoo's four new lion cub brothers underwent their quarantine exams this week, bringing them one step closer to fully moving into their new home.
Over Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, zoo veterinarians and animal care staff gave each 200-pound lion cub a routine physical, collected blood samples, and gave vaccines.
All animals new to the zoo undergo an exam to be sure they are healthy and adjusting.
Zoo staff says the four brothers get along with each other very well and may remain in their own bachelor group for the rest of their lives. They are not currently recommended to breed and are housed separately from the zoo's other pride of lions.
The cubs were born May 15 at the Lee Richardson Zoo in Kansas and arrived in Denver on July 13. They are visible to guests in the Benson Predator Ridge exhibit.
