Denver crews start street sweeping Wednesday, $50 fine if car is parked at sites

Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is reminding everyone that street sweeping starts Wednesday morning.

This is when crews remove dirt and debris off city streets to make our neighborhoods cleaner and healthier. City crews say there are red and white signs that will explain the parking restrictions. You will need to move your car to avoid a $50 citation.

This program keeps our air and water safe and clean. Denver residents are asked to move their cars on street sweeping days so the sweepers can reach everywhere. Crews especially aim around curb lines where dirt accumulates.

The removal of the debris also prevents storm sewers from getting clogged. The city is also reminding everyone not to sweep leaves in the street.

The posted street sweeping season starts April 1 and goes through November.
