Denver Public Works Plows Prepped And Ready For Storm
DENVER (CBS4) - There's a lot of prep work to be done to keep drivers moving through the metro area before that snow begins to fall.
Officials from Denver Public Works say the first plows will hit the road as soon as there's accumulation on major Denver streets. Seventy trucks in total will be plowing the roads in preparation for the big storm.
CBS4 Meteorologist Dave Aguilera says flakes will begin falling around 5 p.m. During the rush hour there will likely be just an inch of snow. But some 4 to 8 inches are expected Thursday night and even more Friday afternoon.
"We are expecting the streets to freeze sometime tonight, which means the morning commute will be slick, icy and snow packed," Emily Williams with Denver Public Works said. "We will be out there all night long but we want to remind people to plan ahead for your drive in to work."
While the morning's commute may be rough, Wednesday's evening commute should be okay. Officials say even if there's snow the roads will stay be relatively warm, so not much potential for ice.
