Denver Prosecutors Charge Men Accused Of Abducting Women

DENVER (AP) — Charges have been filed after Denver police say four women were held captive in a garage for hours and at least some of them were beaten, sexually assaulted and threatened with drug overdoses.

The Denver District Attorney's Office says 29-year-old Edgar Barroso, 30-year-old Pedro Valdez, 35-year-old Juvenal Tamayo and 27-year-old Steven Hillen all face second-degree kidnapping and other charges. Valdez and Barroso also are charged with assault.

Police say the women were abducted Aug. 13 and released the next day.

The captors allowed one of the women to leave Aug. 14, and she went to a hospital and reported she had been sexually assaulted.

Booking documents do not indicate if any of the men has hired an attorney.
