Denver Police Testing Use Of Body Cameras
DENVER (AP/CBS4) — Some Denver police officers are using body cameras on patrol as part of a study of their effectiveness.
Officers assigned to the downtown area began wearing the cameras in June for the six-month study being conducted by Taser International and the University of Cambridge.
CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass first reported in March that police would be getting the body cameras.

The fatal police shooting of an unarmed black 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri, has prompted calls for more officers to wear the cameras, simple, lapel-mounted gadgets that capture video footage of law enforcement's interactions with the public.

Proponents say the devices add a new level of accountability to police work.
Police in Lone Tree and Fort Collins already use them.
Denver police chief Robert White plans to talk about the department's use of the cameras at a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
