DPD Searches For Suspects In Multiple Robberies

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver police are searching for a group of men they believe are connected to almost 20 robberies.

The most recent robbery happened on Sunday at a 7-Eleven near Wadsworth Boulevard and Yale Avenue where police said the victim was threatened with a gun.

Surveillance video there caught the men in the act.

The majority of robberies have happened to people walking down the street but the last two happened inside businesses.

Police believe the same group of men is responsible for 18 different robberies that happened around the metro area in less than three weeks.

"These individuals have shown that they're not just targeting businesses but also any individual that they believe would make an easy target," said Denver Police Department spokesman John White.

Places robbed include the Corner Store near 44th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard and a few days before that someone was robbed during the day as they walked down 38th Avenue.

Police said in nearly all of the robberies the men have been armed.

"The most recent case that we had just yesterday involved a handgun and a baseball bat," said White.

The suspects are described as a group of four or five Hispanic men wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandanas.

So far no one has been hurt but a clerk that was behind the counter during one of the robberies said he is so shaken that he won't be coming back to his job.

Police are asking anyone with information to please contact them.
