Denver Police Search For Attempted Kidnapping Suspect

DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver are searching for a man who tried to kidnap a child over the Fourth of July weekend.

Police said the victim was walking behind a family member in the 1500 block of Cleveland Place on July 5. That's when an unknown male picked up the child and started to walk away. The family member saw this and the unknown male put the child down and ran off.

"A family walking out on a Saturday night when a little boy drops back and someone picks up the child and starts to take off in the other direction," Sonny Jackson with Denver police said.

The unknown male was described as a white male, middle aged, with black, tangled hair and unshaven with a light mustache.

"There are people like this and we want to make sure we're vigilant about watching out for our children," Jackson said.
