In a later update, the police department said one male under the age of 18 died at the scene.

"While the investigation is ongoing, the incident appears isolated as the parties were known to each other. We ask the community to keep the victim's family, loved ones and the entire Montbello community in their thoughts," said Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas.

On Friday morning, police told CBS Colorado that one juvenile male suspect had been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting. That suspect was being held for investigation of first-degree murder.

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston released this statement about the shooting on Friday, "No statement can capture the grief we feel today. Our hearts are broken. To the family of the victim and the entire Montbello community, know that you have our deepest sympathies and our unwavering support."
