Denver Outlasts Omaha 75-72

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Christian Mackey scored 14 points and Denver outlasted Omaha 75-72 on Saturday.

Denver (13-11, 5-6 Summit) led by six on Nate Engesser's layup with 3:48 to go, but Omaha tied it at 68 on Devin Patterson's jumper with 1:45 left. On the next possession, Denver's Thomas Neff drilled a 3-pointer, and after the teams traded free throws the Pioneers led by three with 13 seconds remaining.

Omaha had one possession to tie, but Jake White missed a jumper and Tim Smallwood's last-chance 3-point attempt was no good.

Including Mackey, Denver had five in double figures — Engesser finished with 13 points, Neff and C.J. Bobbitt had 11 and Marcus Byrd 10. The Pioneers won the battle of the boards 39-25.

Omaha (15-10, 7-4 Summit) was led by Patterson with 26 points and six assists. Tre'Shawn Thurman added 17 points and Tra-Deon Hollins had seven steals.
