Denver Organizations Open Doors For Community Healing
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - People around the world are sending their love and support to the Dallas officers and the two men who died during their encounters with police. There was a vigil Friday night in Boulder, which was just one of several held across Colorado.
Members of the Greater Denver Metro Ministerial Alliance met on the steps of the Capitol to speak out against violence.
Students and staff at the University of Denver expressed their concern over the recent shooting deaths of black men in Baton Rouge and St. Paul.
"Enough blaming the victim for not following orders, enough debate on whether or not all lives matter," said Tracey Adams-Peters, DU Director of Student Success.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock is asking churches and organizations to open their doors over the weekend and allow the community to heal as one. On Friday night John Moreland, a senior pastor at Denver Christian Bible Church, did just that.
"We are in search for truth, regardless of what it yields and who it implicates," Moreland said.
Moreland has a background in law enforcement and reminded his church to trust the system.
"Restore faith in each other," Moreland said.
