DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver mayor's office on Thursday announced that Mayor Michael Hancock will travel to Europe and will discuss legalized marijuana during his visit to Amsterdam.

Hancock will travel with economic advisors and airport officials to London and Amsterdam next week in hopes of expanding Denver's "global trade, investment and aviation opportunities."

In Amsterdam Hancock's group will also visit with city leaders to compare notes on legal pot. Marijuana is legal in coffee shops in the Netherlands, and the city of Amsterdam draws millions of tourists for this fact alone.

The city of Denver has seen a tax windfall since retail sales of marijuana at stores became legal on Jan. 1, and last month a marijuana career fair in the city drew thousands. (Full Story)

Regulation, enforcement and education will be on the agenda for the discussion.

Late last year the city launched a website as part of a public education effort about legalized marijuana.

The site -- MarijuanaInfoDenver.org --is intended to be an informational overview of marijuana laws in Denver.
