Denver Mayor Begins Week-Long Broncos Celebration

DENVER (AP/CBS4) — Denver Mayor Michael Hancock is kicking off a week-long celebration leading up to the Broncos' Super Bowl game against the Seahawks.

Hancock joined Gov. John Hickenlooper at a rally from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Denver's City and County Building.

"The Broncos are so much a part of our social fabric here in Denver, Colorado and the fans are so strongly behind their home team and want to see them be successful and so I think this rally is a demonstration that there's a tremendous amount of support and love for our Denver Broncos and we wish them so much, so well in New York," said Hancock.

The festivities included a chalk artist who will create a tribute to the team along a nearby street.

Beginning Monday, fans will be encouraged to post photos and videos on the mayor's Facebook page, based on a different Broncos theme each day.

Several buildings across the city also will be lit in blue and orange before the Broncos play the Seahawks next Sunday.
