Denver Firefighters Welcome Crews From Englewood

DENVER (CBS4)- The Denver Fire Department officially welcomed firefighters from Englewood into their fold on Thursday.

The Denver Fire Department took over all of Englewood's firefighting operations last month after the city announced it could no longer afford to fund its own department.

Since then, Englewood firefighters have been undergoing a five-week transitional training with Denver.

Thursday's ceremony marks the beginning of the new Denver Firefighters' careers.

"I very much thank you for your role in keeping those who visit, live and work in Denver safe," said Denver Executive Director of Safety Stephanie O' Malley.

The new graduates will begin their firehouse rotations on Sunday.
