Denver Deputy To Be Sentenced For Helping Felon Escape

DENVER (CBS4) – A Denver Deputy who helped a convicted felon escape from jail will be sentenced on Friday.

Matthew Andrews pleaded guilty to helping Felix Trujillo get out of jail last spring in exchange for $500,000.

Andrews provided the inmate with deputy clothing and even drove him away from the jail.

Trujillo later surrendered to authorities and talked to CBS4 about the incident.

"So I go to my room he says tells me get dressed put the stuff on and walk out the door and the inmates are looking at me like 'what the hell is going on' and I'm just going with the flow you know," said Trujillo.

Andrews could be sentenced to probation or up to six years in prison for his role in the crime.
