Denver-Bound Passengers Stranded In Chicago After Fire At Radar Facility
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - A day after storms in the Midwest stranded hundreds of passengers at Denver International Airport, another problem prevented passengers from Chicago reaching Denver.
The Federal Aviation Administration temporarily grounded flights in and out of both major airports in Chicago on Tuesday because smoke filled a radar facility outside Chicago.
Crews had to evacuate the radar facility.
United Airlines alone canceled 23 flights.
This winter was the worst for fliers in the 20 years that the government has been collecting data. During the first three months of this year, U.S. Airlines canceled 4.6 percent of their flights.
