Denver Botanic Gardens Helps Bring Fresh Produce To Those In Need

DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver Botanic Gardens and Denver Human Services have teamed up for the third year in a row to bring fresh produce to those most in need.
Monday was the first day of the farm stands at two human services offices: one in Sun Valley and one in Montbello.
The idea behind the fresh food stands is to get fresh produce to those who often live in areas where it simply isn't available.
"Last year we sold over 5,500 pounds of fresh food to folks. That's a lot of healthy food getting into the hands of folks who really could use it," said Denver Human Services spokesman Don Mares.
There is a new aspect to the partnership this year is the veterans to farmers program that trains veterans in farming so they can have more career options.
