Denver Auditor Happy About Changes In Medical Pot Monitoring
DENVER (CBS4) – Denver's auditor is pleased with changes made in monitoring medical marijuana businesses in the city.
Last year auditors found what they considered serious problems in the city's monitoring of marijuana businesses. Now, in a follow up report, the auditor says more than 70 percent of its recommendations have been implemented.
The changes dealt with applications, control of cash handling, security of sensitive information and more.
"I am pleased to report that the Department of Excise and Licenses has taken our recommendations seriously and diligently worked to implement them," Auditor Dennis Gallagher said in a statement. "I congratulate them and Mayor Hancock for this."
The other recommendations are in the process of being implemented.
Denver's Department of Excise and Licenses is also now responsible for regulating the new recreational marijuana businesses.
