Denver Artist Wins Wyoming's Conservation Stamp Contest

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A Denver artist has won the Wyoming Game and Fish Department's conservation stamp contest.

Department officials say Dan Andrews' painting of a swift fox was selected by a panel of judges out of 58 entries from 22 states. This year, 25 Wyoming artists entered the competition.

Game and Fish selects one species each year to be the subject of the competition and eventually appear on more than 100,000 conservation stamps. Almost all hunters and anglers in the state must buy the stamp every year.

Andrews won $3,500 for "Running Free," a painting of a swift fox in full stride.

The paintings will be on display at Game and Fish headquarters in Cheyenne though May 15.
