Denver Among Cities Listed In Report To Criminalize In Homeless

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver is among the cities criticized in a new report about cities that boost policies to criminalize homelessness.

The National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty said Tuesday many cities have banned living in vehicles, camping in public areas and panhandling.

The center says policies that criminalize homelessness harm communities because they create barriers to employment, housing and education.

The report was released on a day when crews with the City of Denver helped conduct a homeless sweep in the Ballpark Neighborhood. It was the second such sweep in the neighborhood since March.

Other cities mentioned in the report include Honolulu and Dallas.
