Demonstrators Protest Decision To Prevent Obama's Executive Order On Immigration

DENVER (CBS4) - Supporters of President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration are asking the government to do more. Demonstrators in Denver on Wednesday hoped to send a message to the nation's capitol and lawmakers.

Dozens of people gathered at the state Capitol Wednesday afternoon urging immigration authorities and Congress to step in and help people like Arturo Hernandez. He's in the U.S. illegally and has found refuge in a Denver church for several months.

"Given the continued delay of differed action for parents of Americans in the courts, and the lack of action from Congress, it's even critical we organize as a community to defend against unjust deportations, like that of Arturo's," said Gabriela Flora with the American Friends Service Committee.

Wednesday's rally was in response to a federal court decision to further prevent the president's immigration plan from taking effect.
