Democrats Keep Colorado House, Senate In Play
DENVER (AP) - Colorado Democrats will retain a majority in the state House, but it's still unclear which party will control the Senate.
The Democrats House majority will be slim. They used to have a 37-28 advantage, and can end up with just a one-vote lead. House Republicans planned to elect a minority leader Friday, meaning they've acknowledged they won't control the chamber.
Democrats have controlled the Senate for the past 10 years, but the party's dominance there is in limbo.
Lawmakers are waiting for a race in Adams County between Democrat Judy Solano and Republican Beth Humenik to determine which party will have an 18-17 majority. Humenik is leading.
Split control of the Legislature will make it difficult for either party to drive an ambitious agenda.
