Democrats Complain Of Gardner Violation

DENVER (AP) — With Colorado's Senate race effectively deadlocked, each side is looking ways to tarnish the other in the eyes of voters.

Colorado Democrats Wednesday are poised to file a complaint with the House Ethics Committee alleging Republican Rep. Cory Gardner violated the chamber's rules by linking to his House web site in campaign press releases.

Gardner is running against Democrat Mark Udall. His campaign says the complaint is frivolous.

The complaint follows conservatives' attempt on Tuesday to dirty up Udall by contending that his appearance at a state representative's fundraiser violated federal law. They later switched to arguing it was illegal under state law but did not produce documentation backing up their contention.

Republicans need to net six Senate seats to take control of the chamber.
