Delta Airlines Passengers At DIA Wait In Long Lines

DENVER (CBS4)- Delta Airlines flights were back in the air on Monday afternoon after a power outage took down its computers across the world. Delta passengers at Denver International Airport continued to line up on Monday afternoon as they waited for flights.

Delta blames the problem on an outage in Atlanta just after midnight mountain time. The power was fully restored about seven hours later but left people stranded in airports worldwide as flights were grounded.

Some people at DIA had to wait for hours for information about flights because the computers were down. Information about flight status, arrivals and departures were not updated because of the outage.

Once the computers were back online, there was a delay in getting those passengers boarded because of a lack of planes and jets.

Ticket agents tried to get the backlog moving as planes landed, calling out departing flights and pulling people out of line as their destination city became ready to board.

Passengers told CBS4 they were frustrated with the lack of information.

"Nothing concrete. It could happen today, it might not happen today. You can buy another ticket and they'll refund your ticket," said Delta passenger Sharon Miller.

"It's probably going to get quite annoying, we haven't been here that long so we're not like, really annoyed yet but it's probably going to get annoying," said Delta passenger Lily Tarson.

Delta issued an online waiver for passengers to receive a refund if their flight was cancelled or significantly delayed. Southwest Airlines offered discounts on full fares for Delta passengers.
