Defendant Hospitalized After Breaking Down In Courtroom

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - The defendant in a fatal car accident case suffered a nervous breakdown during statements from relatives of the victim and had to be hospitalized.

Christine Tinner pleaded guilty to careless driving-causing death and careless driving-causing injury, both misdemeanors.

Tinner started to sob loudly and was taken out of the courtroom to a hospital on Friday after the stepmother of the victim, Meleyna Kistner, accused Tinner of willfully killing Kistner in an accident on Aug. 23.

After being removed from the courtroom, Tinner could be heard repeatedly wailing, "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"

A deputy in the courthouse called for an ambulance and Tinner was taken out of the building in a wheelchair.

Her condition was not available on Saturday.
